Enjoyable Internet Time With Best Behavior

Admittedly, I was torn between two song titles for this post: David Bowie’s Changes or John Prine’s It’s a Big Old Goofy World. I am indecisive…so I will go with both, because they apply perfectly to what I am about to tell you. And let me tell you, it’s been a crazy couple of months.

As of May 2018, my company, Best Behavior Creative Club, has been acquired by the only agency I would ever imagine joining forces with: Designsensory. For the full scoop, check out the OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE, and here’s a really cool article from the Knoxville Business Journal. I am joining this insanely talented group as creative director and Courtney Hendricks, who has kept the wheels on the Best Behavior bus spinning since 2010, is coming on as art director. George Middlebrooks is remaining independent, and will always be a PRO, and Dana Nies has found a great position at one of Knoxville’s leading video production companies.

If you’re reading this and you’re a client, THANK YOU. I’m happy to bring you aboard and introduce you to an incredible team of talented designers, developers, strategists, creators, and social media pros. It has been an amazing experience and I look forward to continuing our adventures with everyone who has “been on their best behavior” since 2009.

If you’re reading this and you’re a creator, DOUBLE THANK YOU (and a TRIPLE THANK YOU to Courtney Hendricks). I have had the pleasure of working with some of the most talented creative people on the planet and it’s because of you guys that we were able to push boundaries, have some fun, and most of all, do incredible work. Let’s keep it up.

If you’re reading this and you’re my wife, QUADRUPLE THANK YOU. Without your support (and unending, ceaseless patience) none of this would be possible. It’s hard enough to be a creative person, and it’s even harder to be a creative entrepreneur. You are the ground control to my Major Tom (yes, another Bowie reference) and I will always appreciate that you bring me back home every time.

And one more: If you’re reading this and you’re my kids, THIS IS ALL FOR YOU. You guys are capable of amazing things, and I want you to know that real success comes through hard work, diligence, and maybe above all, taking care of the people around you. Have respect for yourself, have respect for others and respect for the work you do, and that will take you far, no matter where you want to go.

Right now, I’m settling in at Designsensory and figuring out where the good coffee is kept. But most of all, I’m engaging daily with a ton of talented, ambitious, creative people who are hellbent on making the best work they can. It’s exciting, terrifying, and at times…slightly disorienting…as all great things should be.

Rock, roll, etc.
